Nevada Economic Development Council’s purpose is to assist in the development and implementation of a plan to encourage and promote the establishment, development and retention of industrial, manufacturing and commercial interests in the City of Nevada. Members are volunteers willing to improve Nevada’s prosperity, standards of living and quality of life through long term planning and development. The NEDC has developed a commercial business park comprised of 50 acres with three available lots remaining and an 80 acre industrial park with four remaining lots. A 100 acre expansion area fronting four-lane US Highway 30, adjoins the current West Industrial Park. This additional site can accommodate a large project or can be sub-divided as needed.
The effectiveness of the NEDC will be measured by how it diversifies the economic base by creating and retaining jobs, increasing payrolls, increasing business volume, adding tax base and broadening community betterment. There shall be no monetary benefits to the representatives of this organization. As a result of the efforts of the NEDC, the City and its citizens should enjoy better prosperity, a higher standard of living and a better quality of life than is possible without such planning and development.
The NEDC has full-time professional staff to assist existing companies with expansion and new companies interested in locating in Nevada. Staff and board work closely with the City and the Iowa Department of Economic Development in preparing proposals and incentive packages for commercial and industrial growth.
